Our Origins

  • Every enduring company is built on a foundation of character, and ours begins with Gabino Gomez — father, teacher, and patriarch.
  • Gabino's relationship with the land began in the fields of Jalisco, Mexico, where from a very young age he worked the soil, tilled the earth, and cultivated crops. It was there that he developed an intuitive understanding of plants and the natural world — a knowledge rooted not in textbooks, but in years of patient, hands-on experience. When Gabino brought that knowledge to the United States, he settled in the Warner Center district of the San Fernando Valley, a time when open cornfields still stretched across land that would later give rise to the area's towering office corridors. A natural outdoorsman with an innate affinity for soil and growing things, Gabino found his calling in horticulture. He refined his craft under the mentorship of Japanese-American master gardeners — the predominant practitioners of the trade at the time and widely regarded for their precision and discipline. Under their influence, Gabino honed his technique and deepened his professional foundation before ultimately establishing himself as an independent sole proprietor. Through years of dedicated work, he built a reputation and a livelihood entirely his own. His legacy did not stop with him. Four of his six surviving children carried his passion forward, each expanding their expertise in landscape management and urban tree care. From one man's love of the land, Gomez Landscape & Tree Care was born — and with it, a tradition of craftsmanship and stewardship that continues to define our company today.
